Happy Dragon Boat Festival

Honoring Traditions and Celebrations

We are pleased to announce that our store ControlTech Supply will be closed in observance of the Dragon Boat Festival. This traditional Chinese holiday, also known as Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, which falls on June 10th this year. We will be off work from June 8th to June 10th, and we will resume regular business hours on June 11th.

Origins and Traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival has a rich history that dates back over 2,000 years. It commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese poet and minister Qu Yuan. As a loyal minister during the Warring States period, Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River in protest against the corruption of the ruling state.

To honor Qu Yuan, the local people threw rice into the river to feed his spirit and paddled out on boats to scare away fish and evil spirits. These traditions have evolved into the modern Dragon Boat Festival, where communities across China and around the world engage in dragon boat races and prepare and eat zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves).

We Wish You a Joyous Festival

We hope you and your family have a joyous and prosperous Dragon Boat Festival. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you after the holiday. Happy Dragon Boat Festival!
