Collaborating to Meet Growing Energy Demands
GE Vernova, the power generation spinoff of General Electric, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support the growing energy needs of data centers. This collaboration aims to improve grid reliability, address global energy demands, and accelerate the decarbonization of power systems.
Under the partnership, GE Vernova will provide AWS with electrification systems, turnkey substations, and other solutions to ensure data center connectivity to the grid across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Supporting Global Data Center Expansion
GE Vernova will continue to supply natural gas turbines for AWS’s data center projects and work on enhancing onshore wind energy solutions. The companies will also collaborate on providing electrical equipment, project management, and construction services globally to support AWS’s data center scaling.
Driving Innovation and Sustainability
GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer, Pablo Koziner, emphasized the company’s role in helping AWS secure reliable and sustainable energy. In return, AWS will assist GE Vernova in its cloud migration and digital innovation efforts, including the use of generative AI, to support its transformation as a standalone company.
Accelerating Energy Efficiency
The partnership aims to improve data and energy efficiencies, supporting more sustainable operations. Both companies are also involved in initiatives to boost decarbonization, including partnerships with Chevron and nuclear energy developers.
Preparing for Future Energy Demands
With forecasts predicting that data center energy loads could reach 80 GW by 2030, the partnership between GE Vernova and AWS is crucial for meeting future energy demands while prioritizing sustainability.
