1756HP-TIME Time Synchronization Module Overview

Functionality

• Enables precise time synchronization within a redundant control system
• Supports both RSLogix v16 and RSLogix v19 (includes Precision Time Protocol or PTP)

Wallclock Discipline

• In RSLogix v16, the user can set the wallclock by writing the current UTC value to it
• Uses the PPS (Pulse Per Second) bit to discipline the clock every second
• Wallclock accuracy depends on the remote rack’s RPI (Remote Programmed Input) and the module’s RPI

PTP (Precision Time Protocol)

• When using CIPSync (PTP) in RSLogix v19:
  • Enable PTP output in the module’s configuration
  • Configure the Ethernet bridge module (EN2T, EN2TR) to support CIPSync
  • The Logix Controller synchronizes to the Ethernet Bridge, which in turn syncs with the 1756HP-TIME module
• Provides better time accuracy compared to other methods

Installation

• Connects to IRIG-B network via BNC connector
• Requires an RJ45 connector for Ethernet communication
• GPS antenna connects via an SMA connector
