BENTLY NEVADA 102046-50 Proximity Switch

Bently Nevada 102046-50 is a proximity switch, specifically a non-contact inductive proximity switch.

Proximity switch: It detects the presence or absence of nearby objects without physically touching them. This is achieved through an electromagnetic field.
Non-contact: Unlike mechanical limit switches that require physical contact, this inductive switch operates without needing to make contact with the object.
Inductive: It uses an oscillating magnetic field to sense nearby metallic objects. When a metal object comes close to the sensor's face, the magnetic field interacts with the eddy currents induced in the metal object, causing a change in the sensor's output signal.

Target type: Metal objects
Sensing type: Inductive
Output type: Normally Open
Normally Open means the switch circuit is open by default and completes the circuit (turns on) when it detects a metal object within its sensing range.
Target distance: 8 mm (0.31 inches)- This is the maximum distance at which the sensor can detect a metal object.
Probe tip diameter: 5 mm (0.20 inches)

Applications:
Machine monitoring: Sensing the position of machine components or detecting the presence of parts for proper operation.
Conveyor systems: Monitoring object presence on conveyor belts or triggering actions based on object arrival.
Safety applications: Preventing machine operation until a safety gate is closed (ensuring presence of a metal safety guard).
Liquid level detection: Indirectly sensing liquid level by detecting a float mechanism made of metal.
