ABB 87TS01 Coupling Module

ABB 87TS01 is a coupling module designed to connect computers or external systems to an ABB PROCONTROL system. It acts as a bridge between external devices and the internal network of the PROCONTROL system.

Key features and functionalities:
Communication Interface: Provides a serial interface (RS232c or RS422) for connecting external systems like computers, Process Operator Stations (POS), Programming, Diagnosis and Display Systems (PDDS), or Control Diagnosis Stations (CDS) to the PROCONTROL system.
Data Exchange: Enables two-way communication between the external system and the PROCONTROL system. It receives data and instructions from the computer and transmits data from the PROCONTROL system following a defined protocol.
System Integration: Integrates seamlessly into any station within the PROCONTROL system utilizing a redundant 24V module supply.
Internal Functionality: Comprises three main sections:
Station bus interface: Conditions telegrams for transmission and reception on the PROCONTROL station bus.
Processing section: Processes data received from the station bus, assigns timestamps, and transmits it to the computer or vice versa.
Serial interface: Manages data transfer according to the defined protocol.
Scalability: Up to four 87TS01 modules can be connected in parallel to a single computer depending on the application's needs.
