The REB500 distributed busbar protection is part of the Relion® protection and control product family. It is designed to deliver the core values of the IEC 61850 standard. REB500 supports various busbar protection philosophies and can be configured as:

• Distributed Solution: Assigning each physical bay unit to the corresponding bay cubicle.
• Centralized Solution: Integrating bay units into centralized cubicles.

• GOOSE Send for Trip and Remote Trip:

  • Facilitates digital substation solutions.
  • Optimizes system design by eliminating the need for copper wiring.

• Enhanced Bay Unit Functionality:

  • Includes Synchro Check and Auto Recloser functions for complete line protection solutions in addition to busbar protection.

• Test Facility for Trip Circuits:

  • Enables efficient testing of the BU and related wiring through the LHMI (Local Human-Machine Interface).

• Improved Protection System Availability:

  • Reduces the need for system reboot after protection setting changes.
  • Shortens the system startup time.

• Enhanced LED Signal Utilization:

  • Allows assigning multiple signals to one LED on the LHMI.
  • Enables multicolor indication for switchgear position.

• Bay Unit Connection Status Indication:

  • Displays the connection status on the Central Unit (CU) LHMI.

• Additional Disturbance Recorder Channels:

  • Adds phase difference channels in the Central Unit.
